choosing to be a powherfull woman
I have a podcast, all about women choosing themselves and creating something bigger, over time. I started it in the back of my car (at 5 am - and I didn’t want to wake up the house). I am now three years in, with well over 100 guests, and more INCREDIBLE women booking in ALL THE TIME (organically!).
BUT but but butttttttttt - THIS STILL HAPPENS. I had two guests booked for two separate shows AND it had me in a ball of anxiety. I woke up in the middle of the night (can’t blame perimenopause for this one, it was straight up nerves). And you know how that goes, the more you try to fall back asleep, the longer you stay AWAKE!!!!!
These guests are FAR BEYOND my “level of accomplishment”, so my body was freaking out about holding my own, carrying the conversation, connecting deeply with the guest.
Add that I record at 6 a.m., so waking up at 2 a.m. is not exactly ideal when there's a 5 a.m. alarm waiting for me.
My nervous system was in full flight mode. And yet...something was different. The work I have been practicing for years (hello highly insecure blended family triggers for one!) is starting to actually STACK. I reacted with comforting my body, speaking to her, soothing her….. And directing myself from spirit not flesh.
A few years ago, this kind of reaction would have completely taken me over. And it did!!! When I was working as an Online Business Manager, my heart would race before team meetings. My body would sweat. My mind would spin.
And this was despite the fact that my clients loved me and I loved them. I was really good at what I did. Organizing chaos. Project management. Team building. Problem solving.
All the things. And yet my body was responding as though I was walking into danger.
Same with the podcast. I know I'm a good host. My guests tell me over and over. From strangers to heart connected friends in one hour. I have recorded more than 100 episodes with more than 100 incredible women. I have called on dozens of these women to collaborate with me and it's always a resounding YES!
There is actual evidence. And still, some little part of my brain resists accepting the new evidence.
"Are you sure?"
"Can you really do this?"
"What if this one doesn't go well?"
It's fascinating. Because the body is doing its job. It's trying to keep me safe. It just doesn't always know the difference between a life-or-death threat and an impressive podcast guest.
And this is where I think identity work gets really interesting.
Because the question isn't only: What do I want to accomplish?
It's: What kind of woman am I being while I accomplish it?
Am I frantic?
Am I performing?
Am I waiting for someone else to tell me what to do?
Am I constantly looking for reassurance?
Am I treating every outcome like a referendum on my worth?
Or...
Am I learning to lead myself?
Can I be nervous and still move?
Can I be uncertain and still decide?
Can I fail without making it mean something terrible about me?
Can I succeed without immediately moving the goalpost?
Can I actually enjoy what I'm building?
This is something I'm learning in real time. Now I can see it happening. I can feel it. I can support my body through it. And I can get curious about it instead of immediately believing everything it tells me.
That's growth.
I've spent a lot of my life being very serious about getting things right. Desperately trying to PROVE myself, earn my worth through it. Choose me!!! Try to be invaluable, over serve, push so hard.
And now I'm experimenting with something different. CURIOSITY. TRY. Just have fun, see what happens and stop demanding that every action produce a particular outcome?
Because I have a long life to live. A lot of time to use wisely. A calling to pursue. People I want to love and experiences I want to have.
And I don't want to spend all of it anxiously trying to prove that I'm capable of doing it. I want to actually enjoy becoming the woman who does.
Let it be safe to not be safe (because we are not in actual danger). Let it be safe to FAIL. Let it be safe to see what happens, to see what surprises God has for us and let those beautiful miracles appear.
Stay open, not proving.
Have fun, “while performing” for the sake of service, connection and to see what you can create.
I have lived this out loud and it was freedom. It became safe and normal to have hiccups, to not be perfect and to still create something AMAZING.
In my first “The Everyday Woman Summit” things went wrong! But SO MUCH MORE WENT RIGHT. And instead of trying to be perfect, I got to be an ideal version of the woman accomplishing the summit. I was spacious, productive, caring, providing an excellent experience for the speakers, creating a new community, a new movement and HAVING FUN, making it easy, making it spacious.
Even with 10 speakers, an eight email opt in sequence, graphics and copywriting for marketing. I was watching myself become someone new. I wasn't taking it less seriously. I was simply not making the responsibility mean that I had to be stressed. I was leading myself differently.
And that distinction matters so much.
Because when you decide you want to build something bigger, you are also deciding to take on more responsibility.
It's a little like becoming a parent. You say: "I'M READY TO TAKE ON MORE RESPONSIBILITY."
And then the responsibility arrives and you're like "OH MY GOD. WHAT HAVE I DONE?" 😂
The missing step is often skipping the part of growing into holding more responsibility.
We stumble and freak out, when instead we can actually grow our capacity alongside the additional responsibility. That’s the identity shift I am talking about. Learning how to carry more as you take on more, not after. Raise the baby first while preparing to raise the adult they will become. Don’t pressure yourself for more before more arrives, grow into it over time, pace yourself intentionally.
And in doing so, you become the woman who can hold more without it costing her everything. That's what I mean when I talk about building something bigger with what you have now.
You don't need to become a completely different woman first. You practice being her inside the life you already have.
With your current schedule. Your current job. Your current family. Your current business. Your current energy. Your current resources. With your current reality.
Use what you have. And add a little more. Take action, rest, learn and keep going. And slowly, your life begins providing you with evidence.
"Oh. I can handle this."
"Oh. I don't have to panic."
"Oh. I can lead myself."
"Oh. That was actually different this time!"
"Oh. I actually like who I'm becoming."
This is why I believe your business is the playground for your soul.
Every decision teaches you something. Every uncomfortable conversation pushes you further into self trust or self doubt. You have to truly learn what it means to lead yourself and back yourself up no matter the result.
Are you doing this thing or not?
You know you don’t lose weight with ONE workout right? You gain in the REPS. The reps of choosing for laundry to wait so you can host a webinar, the reps of writing a blog even if no one reads it, the reps of building something for as long as it takes - UNTIL IT TAKES.
Because I know you are building more than a business. You are building yourself. You are building self-trust - you are building the woman who follows through on what she SAYS she wants Walking the walk, not just talking about it.
And those reps build your decision-making, your capacity, your confidence. Which doesn’t stay only inside your business.
This identity comes home with you; it shows up in your relationships, in your parenting, in your career. In your day to day choices. And then the results land - money, health, freedom, impact, purpose, fulfillment.
So I'm still going to get nervous before podcast interviews, and I welcome it. Because that means I am pushing the edge of my next self.
That's where the real work lies sister. Not in becoming fearless, perfect or figuring it all out. But becoming the woman who can feel all of it......and still lead herself.
So, who do you want to be in the middle of all of it, what kind of woman will you be as you build? How will you support yourself alongside the growth edge and the reps of creating a new reality?
You don't have to wait until you arrive somewhere to become her. You actually practice her today, not someday. TODAY. While you're building. While you're working. While you're parenting. While you're figuring it out.
While you're making dinner and answering emails and folding laundry and wondering if you're doing enough (you are!). And when you go to bed, you tell yourself “good job - I moved the needle on my dreams today.” Not “I didn't do enough, I didn’t make money, I didn’t …..”.
You appreciate what you did get done; a half started blog, a lackluster post, a nervous zoom call, an identity challenging podcast interview, a hamper of semi-folded laundry! You give yourself grace. And you keep showing up for the reps the next day, and the next day and the next day.
That's how identity changes. That's how capacity expands. That's how self-trust compounds.
And that's how an Everyday Woman builds something bigger without missing the life she's living along the way. She grows into it as she builds it.
On September 9th, 2026 we begin the journey to growing into a woman who holds more, by shifting how she shows up everyday.
You are not adding more to the daily task list, you are re-organizing to make space for more in what already exists.
That dream of yours buried in the elusive "some day" actually starts now. So, will you give yourself permission to start now?
Join me for The Everyday Woman Awakening on Sept 9th!
