About The Everyday Woman Who Is Quietly Becoming

I'm not talking about waking up at 5 a.m., drinking lemon water, or becoming a woman who has her entire life color-coded. I'm talking about something quieter. The way you respond differently than you used to. The boundary you finally hold. The dream you stop dismissing. The moment you realize you're no longer willing to abandon yourself just to keep everything running smoothly.

The little things that are changing you while you're busy living your life.

***

You probably won't put these on a vision board. No one will see you doing them, and there is no checklist or highlight reel to post on your Stories. These aren't the actions that look impressive from the outside. They're the small, boring ones that do something underneath; they shift your peace and capacity. They make the mundane miraculous.

Sister, I see you. I am paying attention to the everyday women around me. The ones working full-time and showing up for their families, community and somehow still trying to hear from the whisper inside them (Who am I beyond the roles I hold?). And I keep noticing the same few things. Not routines. Not systems. Just small, faithful acts that seem to be doing something.

Here are five extra-ordinary ways for women like you to wake up inside of your life.

1. She begins her day before the day begins her.

It doesn't have to be early and it doesn't have to be long. But it does need to be sacred, to hold space for YOU to just BE.

YOU ARE WORTH A PEACEFUL MOMENT before the world starts its demands on you, in fact it is required. It might start messy, it might start interrupted, but having intentional grounding time will help you settle your mind and charge your energy required for the day.

Even five minutes — that belongs to you before anyone else's needs arrive. A breath, a prayer, staying in bed awake or in locked in the bathroom, sitting with a cup of something to savour, be still with, while it's warm. Because she has learned that the way she enters her own morning sets the tone for everything that follows. She knows she is a priority even when her brain wants to run through the next 6 months of events, tasks and grocery lists.

She makes it a priority to sit, pause, and simply exist—not out of perfection, but with pure intention. This is the Spiritual Intelligence at work: choosing, even briefly, to orient herself before the world orients her.

2. She writes things down.

To help her empty her brain. To purge the noise of everything she is holding. To help stay organized and clear. To process, release and then reflect. Writing it down is not about task tracking, but to hear herself. Getting thoughts on paper helps you process them. So many times I stared at my journal wondering what the heck I had to say, and then 5 pages later it was all out. Other times - VERY LITTLE comes out. BOTH are good.

Writing allows you to let your soul speak, to hear things deeper, to grow you intuition and self trust and see what version lies beneath. I use to write reservedly, holding back in case someone read it. You may feel that too. Well forget it, you need to create a safe space for ALL OF YOU to come out, and writing can be that place. Burn it after if you’re that worried (but remember if someone trespasses that’s on them, not you). The beliefs, thoughts, desires, swirling around inside you need a place to come alive, to be felt, seen, held.

And from there, for you to see yourself more clearly, to find patterns, lost parts of yourself, to find hope for waking up inside your life. This is emotional intelligence at work; processing, reflecting, releasing the things and thoughts swirling around inside of you.

3. She lets herself be still.

This one is harder than it sounds. Stillness is not the same as rest, and it is not the same as passively occupying the mind. Stillness is your soul telling your body that we don’t need to fight, flight or freeze. That we are safe and the world will keep turning while we are still. We do not need to be on demand or at the ready at all given moments.

This is probably the most uncomfortable one, because it's the most unfamiliar. It feels uncomfortable at first. It may bring up things you haven’t been tuned into. But the initial discomfort will mature into such an important shift in your state of being, everywhere and anytime.

Because being still creates steadiness. When you put your phone down, close the laptop, turn off the world and its demands, and don’t fill the silence with anything, you start to feel things you have been too busy to feel. You start to crack, to release, to feel more deeply and to purge, to let it out. And THEN the big, spacious relief of letting go, of allowing, brings forth feeling settled. Feeling safe, feeling - still. Your soul gets bigger inside of your body, your mind gets more clear, your heart more calm. And being still becomes a regular practice, at the traffic light, at the kitchen sink, in the bathroom, in a meeting, in a hard conversation. It starts to become necessary to your way of being.

4. She makes one choice that's only for her becoming.

Most of the time we are running around producing, getting things done, checking off an endless list of tasks. And somewhere we adopted this belief as a measure of our worth and of our ability. Which is crap my friend. In choosing something that feeds you and you alone, you honour your growth. You get to be a priority and you get to matter, for your own joy, your own desire, your own reward.

One small, deliberate decision each day moves you a little closer to the woman you are becoming. It could be sending the kids on a playdate and NOT doing chores at home while they are gone, going for a walk ALONE, meeting a friend, going to a movie. Posting a blog, having a hard conversation, purging the back closet. It doesn't matter what the thing is, as long as it is something purely for YOU, not performative, not proving, not for people pleasing someone else. PEOPLE PLEASE YOURSELF. Do something just for you.

The choice isn't always big. The habit of choosing it is.

Sister, transformation doesn't require a complete life overhaul. Reading a single chapter, sending a delayed email, or saying a clean "no" feels small in the moment, but the act of choosing yourself recalibrates your self-trust.  By consistently making one sovereign choice a day, you build a muscle of alignment, quietly bridging the gap between who you are now and the woman you are becoming.

5. She stays connected to women who see her.

She has created a circle of women who look her in the eye, across a screen or a table, and see the version of her underneath the woman making lunches, balancing the budget, managing a job and a household. The circle sees the woman that is building something, quietly, faithfully, in the margins. The woman who is seeking her peace, her connection to herself, her greater fulfillment in the day to day. Connections like this are not a luxury. For the everyday woman who is becoming, it is oxygen.

Here's what I know about these five ways to wake up inside of your life: none of them will make headlines. You won't go viral for being still. You won't get a badge for writing in a journal or choosing one thing for yourself.

Because becoming doesn't work that way, you don't do it for external validation. You do it for your own peace, connection, way of showing up. Becoming happens in the accumulation of ordinary moments, tended faithfully, until one day you look up and realize - something in you has shifted. You have been quietly changing, the whole time, and you didn't have to wait for a better season to start.
