Who Is Mia Anyway? Unveiling the Heart, Passion, and Vision Behind the Everyday Woman Life Coach

Let's get one thing straight. I am a whole lot of woman.

I live a BIG life and I hold a LOT of roles. I'm a government-employed, rule-enforcing, heart-led, Holy-Spirit-listening, big-feeling, big-dreaming woman who has somehow built an entire philosophy around the radical belief that being a regular human being is actually a spectacular way to spend your life.

Sometimes gracefully. Sometimes with approximately seventeen tabs open in my brain and a not-so-quiet frenetic energy about me!!

By day, it's true, I'm a bylaw officer. I respond to neighbour complaints about each other and try to find peaceful ways forward, or hold accountable when folks are not so willing to “do the right thing.” I'm legally authorized to tell you what you're doing wrong on your private property, while privately wondering whether your behaviour is rooted in childhood wounds and if you've had enough water today.

Once in a while, I have the most exquisite joy of “cracking someone’s heart” and actually turning something asinine into something miraculous. I also have the pleasure of working with incredible women (the finest colleagues), among whom we have developed a sisterhood circle of wisdom, insights and growth. It's a fascinating combination.

In the early mornings, before most people have even snoozed their alarm for the first time, I'm building my coaching business. I podcast at 6 am, I write at all hours (currently 10 pm), I reach out to women I find interesting, I connect people to each other and I build the ecosystem to hold it all.

Why? Because I LOVE talking to women about their choices, sense of self and hearing the thing underneath the thing. I love seeing connections they haven't quite made yet. I love helping a woman recognize that what she thinks is a problem with her schedule might actually be a question about her priorities, that what looks like a confidence issue might be a question of self-trust, and that the life she's been waiting to start might already be happening all around her.

I can hear a woman describe what she thinks is an ordinary problem and start connecting the threads between her identity, her choices, her relationships, her dreams, and the way she's experiencing her actual life.

And then I'll probably (lovingly) tell her she is as much the problem as she is the solution (because this is true with myself as well!!) and to just pick something to work on and start working on it. Because life is NOT going to slow down, get easier, richer, freer or better - unless you make it so!

As I am sure you can see, I care about people, A LOT, and I won't stop, can't stop, with showing up as an example of living a great big life that is fulfilling….. between the jobs, kids and laundry! (Ps and dishes, we don't have a dishwasher machine!).

And this means I'll show up EVERYWHERE in my life. For children learning to be brave. I'll cheer for a woman taking her next big step. I'll help someone find the words for what she's been trying to say. I'll want good things for people even when their lives are complicated, their plans are questionable, and they're about to make a decision I would absolutely not make myself.

I have a big heart. Not the dainty, decorative kind that looks lovely on a greeting card. The inconvenient kind. The kind that notices. The kind that remembers. The kind that wants to understand what's happening underneath someone's behaviour. The kind that can hold compassion for another person's struggle without pretending that the struggle isn't affecting everyone around them.

I'm the coach and friend you can bring the unedited version of yourself to. In fact I require it. I'm genuinely interested in who you are, what makes you tick, what you're dreaming about, what scares you, what lights you up, and what the hell you're going to do about it.

I believe the Holy Spirit is involved in the everyday business of being a person, not just the big, dramatic, life-changing moments. He is there in the ordinary moments, the conversations, the questions, the quiet nudges. That's when I hear from Him the most, when I am slow, still and open.  Then something clicks and I suddenly see my whole life differently.

I'm fascinated by the way the sacred and the ordinary have been hanging out together the whole time, and I find it sad that we can be so busy trying to find the miraculous that we miss what's already standing in our kitchen. When we stop treating our lives like something to get through and actually start participating in them, we recognize that we don't have to wait until our circumstances are perfect to experience peace, purpose, joy, or connection with God.

This is a big part of why I do the work I do. I want women to know that they can build something bigger without deciding that the life they have right now is in the way.

You can have ambition and be present.

You can want more and be grateful for what you have.

You can grow without turning yourself into a never-ending self-improvement project.

My friend, I AM NOT a perfectly curated woman dispensing wisdom from a mountaintop. I have a real job, a real family, real responsibilities, real problems, real faith, real ambition, and a brain that believes it can fix everything all at once.

But I'm learning to trust myself. I'm learning to honour my capacity. I'm learning to hold boundaries and love people without taking responsibility for everything they feel or do.

I'm learning to build a business without becoming the marketing department of a multinational corporation. And I'm learning that I can be good at something without needing to prove myself every five minutes.

I don't have all the answers. But I'm paying attention. And I think that's far more interesting than pretending I've arrived.

The women I work with aren't looking for another person to tell them they're doing life wrong. They're already carrying enough. They're working jobs, raising kids, managing households, navigating relationships, paying bills, caring for people, and trying to remember the dreams they had before everyone needed something from them.

They're capable women who want more.

More meaning.

More peace.

More possibility.

More of themselves available for the lives they're already living.

They don't necessarily need to escape to Bali, quit their jobs, burn their marriages to the ground, or build a seven-figure business. Although, obviously, women get to make their own decisions about all of those things.

They do need room to hear themselves again.

They do need to trust their own choices.

And sometimes they need someone sitting beside them saying, "Okay, let's look at what's actually happening here." So if you are a woman with a full life and your soul is sitting on a someday shelf, this is for you.

And this is the work I was made for.

There are around 32 warnings in the Bible against selfish ambition. Are we to trust our choices or God? Are we to trust ourselves or God? Are we to pursue God’s will for our lives even if it doesn’t match our desires or our will for our lives?

Holy Spirit led is pursuing God’s will, Christ identity, not our idea of our identity or what we want out of this life.

Jeremiah 45:5

“And do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them. For, behold, I will bring disaster upon all flesh, saith the LORD, but I will give you your life as spoil in all the places where you go.”
