Learning to believe the evidence of your own life

I started my podcast in the back of my car in Jan 2023; literally - go listen to the first unedited episode, it's all there. Leslie was in her daughter's closet, it could not have been more perfect.
Since then, I have recorded over 100 episodes with over 100 exquisite women.
I have also organized FIVE summits with one more to go this November.
AND I still get nervous before recording, before launching.
I still wake up through the night sometimes before the show. I still sometimes hope the guest doesn't show up and I won't have to record. I still have to self-regulate throughout the entire show and let myself just be, letting go of the pressure to perform.
You'd think after one hundred episodes I'd feel fearless, or at least not waking up in the middle of the night!
But that's not actually how confidence works. Confidence isn't the absence of nerves. It's learning not to let the nerves drive, and letting that become your identity. Your Her. And that’s what my podcast has taught me about myself.
That I can be nervous and awesome, that I can always be learning more of who I am and humbly accept the beautiful feedback and compliments from women who were strangers and become friends in ONE HOUR with me.
That I can believe the evidence that is right in front of me, even in the middle of the night’s wake up call of nerves.
What's changed over the years is me of course. It’s accepting the compliments, accepting that I am a freaking good host who has deep conversations balanced with humour and heart. One who beautifully reflects insights and storytelling to the interview.
I showed up, tired, open and willing. And I kept showing up. AND every time the guest DID arrive for the show, the result was exhilarating. Every conversation expanded my soul, my reality, my network.
I started in the back of my car because I didn’t know how LOUD I would be and the house was still sleeping at 5:45 am. Of course now I record in my office (a section of the master bedroom) but the kids never wake up.
I didn’t wait for perfect circumstances, I took action over and over and over again. And it got easier, I got better and I built something bigger in my already big life.
That’s my reality - yours too I am sure - of adding more, slowly over time - until it takes on alife of its own. You do it when you can. 5:30 a.m. In the back of the car. Maybe a lunch break during the work day the odd time. For years.
And then you realize one day the evidence you have been looking for and still trying to create is right in front of you. The podcast has been the most exquisite journey self-evolution of the mirror being held back to me, trusting to see myself as I am and what I'm capable of and actually believing it.
The podcast has given me far more than content. It's given me friendships, business partners, opportunities I never could have planned.
A trip to Africa. A community of extraordinary women. A deeper trust in myself. A new identity and freedom in building something bigger without it overrunning my life (and sanity).
All because I finally started something in the middle of my very real very big full life. I didn't make excuses. I didn't shy away from all those sleepless nights and early mornings. I was nervous and unsure and I did it anyway.
Not perfect. Not curated. No fancy intro/outro. No editing! No mic, camera, perfect background either. The wifi stalls sometimes. But I keep going.
Every episode becoming another piece of evidence. Evidence that I could do hard things. Evidence that I could keep my word to myself. Evidence that I could create something meaningful in the middle of an ordinary, very full life.
I realized today, writing this, that I'm really hard on myself. Not enough, strive more, build even bigger….. Yet when I stop and actually APPRECIATE my journey so far and what I have cteaed (versus still want to + will create yet), I see just how rich it is.
I've had so much abundance come through one small action. The show has shaped my identity as a result of it, it anchors me. To here, to now, to what is and what is and what is yet to come.
I think it’s easy to spend time looking for more evidence before we'll trust ourselves.
More income. More followers. More success. More proof.
But what if the evidence is already sitting quietly behind you? Gently nudging you forward, one daily step at a time.
Sometimes I imagine looking at my life from 40,000 feet instead of standing with my nose pressed against today's problems.
From up there I can actually see it. Over one hundred podcast episodes. Over one hundred guests. FIVE FREAKING SUMMITS. Dreams that once lived only in my journal are now living in my real life. The insane outcomes from just talking to women for an hour I mentioned above.
It's the foundation of everything that's still to come. And especially EMBODYING this evidence, this identity, this woman - who is building confidence by not endlessly building more - but by seeing what I have already achieved. This is where self trust grows. This is where “it’s just who I am” lives.
Now it’s your turn. Zoom out. Take the 40,000-foot view. Look at your life over the last three years - not the last three days.
What have you quietly built?
Who have you become?
What evidence have you overlooked because you've been too busy chasing the next milestone?
Maybe your dream isn't where you ultimately hope it will be. Mine isn't either. But that doesn't mean it isn't growing. Growth isn't only measured in income. Sometimes it's measured in peace. In resilience. In courage. In showing up again after doubting yourself.
In becoming the kind of woman who keeps her promises to herself.
One ordinary day at a time.
One conversation.
One workout.
One prayer.
One act of courage.
Because I have a feeling you've built far more than you've been giving yourself credit for. I have a feeling you already are the woman you have been waiting for.
