Making your dreams come true - literally!

Making your dreams come true is a literal saying.

I'm sitting at my daughter's swim lesson after a busy day at work. I am on the pool deck, it’s loud and the teen swimmers are training (and splashing) nearby. There are a few moms I know here, but I chose a spot away from the “gallery” to have some peace, and to write this blog.

Because - my life is FULL. I have laundry, a job, I volunteer with Girl Guides and my truest window of time is between 5 am to 7 am - which isn’t always enough time to write, pray, move by body (especially if I sleep in).

So I am choosing to take action on my vision of building a meaningful community of regular women who MOVE THEIR BUTTS in between laundry, ambition, family and self on the pool deck! Not the luxurious getaway pooldeck, not the laptop lifestyle big house pooldeck. The local rec centre, loud, wet, friendly pool deck. The regular pooldeck. The one that still allows me to write, to lead and to build just the same as the other (quieter, cleaner, nicer ones) would.

I could tell myself that I worked hard at my job today (I did! It's super busy right now / since last year), and it's time to chill. Sure. But that would be denying a huge part of who I am - a leader for normal women building something bigger in their current life, woven in, not on top of “everything else.”

Do you create conditions you (THINK YOU) need to be satisfied before you take action on your dream? Maybe a perfectly aesthetic desk with a window, the perfect little green plant in white pot and a fresh new journal with a satisfying ball pen? (You’re picturing the IG square of this aren’t you! ha).

Those are very lovely things, but putting conditions on your dream, your vision, YOUR LIFE, just makes it harder to get to.

And you know what happens when that whisper can't get louder? You become a little more trapped..a little more complacent, a little more….tepid. And every time we ignore the whisper, it doesn't disappear. We just become more practiced at ignoring ourselves. Then one day we wake up wondering where our spark went. It didn't leave. We simply got very good at drowning it out. And then it's harder to reactivate, to find, to remember, but not impossible.

So my love, you don't need perfect conditions, you just need an imperfect you!

And she is always available!!!!

My approach? Do little bits now to build something bigger. Feed that whisper, stoke that fire, let that part of myself be ALIVE.

Writing poolside is now just a normal part of who I am and how I choose to make my dreams come true. This is my day to day. It didn't use to be. I used to hustle, stay up late, get up early, have massive sleep anxiety and get burnt out

I operated like that for years, and didn't understand why things weren't working when I was doing so much…..

Well I kept trying to add more time rather than adjust how I used time during the day.

And that has provided me with so much freedom.

Freedom to go offline for days while camping

Freedom to feel safe to build and allow results to compound over time (not from 1 viral post - which are rare!)

Freedom to be present, to follow through on what I say I want and to be the woman who makes it happen.

And freedom from pressure, performance and anxious attachment to an outcome.

I create from joy, passion and purpose.

I create from the bench to be an example of being true to myself without excuses, and to move the needle in small ways everyday.

And y'all, I don't have a $50000000 business here hahaha. I have a boutique operation consisting of a podcast, blog, FB group and signature coaching program.

I have an invaluable rolodex of women who know my heart, are part of my vision and always ready to create something amazing. They are also growing their own connections individually as a result of meeting through my world.

This piece is sooooo important. We chase, we want to rush the result, but the journey is where we are made sustainable, tenacious and how we actually become the woman we want to be.

What's one small move you can take today to build something bigger for tomorrow, for next year? For 5 years from now?

Tomorrow I will probably finish editing this blog, put laundry on, think of cleaning the floors after work and running late for camp drop off (because this blog is SO JUICY to my soul!!) and crushing it at work again. And throughout those ordinary moments, I will keep building. I will keep finding my way forward. I will make my dreams come true - literally.

Because dreams don't come true in perfect conditions.

They come true because ordinary women decide to move before everything is ready and START building something bigger for tomorrow, today.

Maybe that's your invitation today too.
