One extra-ordinary day at a time

So much of personal development is built around "future her." But there is no future version of you that's finally worthy of living your life. There is only today's version of you making today's choices. Therefore, there is no "Becoming Her."
***
Everywhere I look, women are talking about becoming her.
What would she do.
Act like her.
Dress like her.
Step into your future self.
And while I understand the intention, I wonder if we're accidentally creating another finish line we'll never quite reach.
Because...
What if there is no "her"?
What if there is only you.
TODAY,
Not a better version. Not a more successful version. Not a version who finally has it all together.
Just you. Making today's choices.
Think about it this way. I'm 44. I don't spend my days trying to become a 50-year-old woman. I simply live today in a way that will eventually make me 50.
Life unfolds one day at a time.
So why do we approach our purpose, business, faith, or health as though we have to become someone else before we can begin living?
Every time we tell ourselves,
"When I become more confident..."
"When I become more disciplined..."
"When I become successful..."
we quietly place today's life on hold.
So instead of becoming... What if we simply were?
A woman who loves God.
A woman deeply loved by Him.
A woman with a calling worth pursuing.
A woman who is ambitious and peaceful.
A woman who rests.
A woman who tells herself the truth with kindness.
A woman who keeps showing up.
A woman who isn't perfect—and doesn't need to be.
A woman who moves steadily instead of frantically.
Those aren't achievements.
They're choices.
CHOICES AVAILABLE TODAY. Right now. The very next thing you choose is your her.
I've realized something over the last few years.
The more I hurried, the less present I became.
The more I chased outcomes, the more anxious I felt.
The harder I tried to force growth, the smaller my world actually became.
Slowing down isn't giving up.
Slowing down creates space.
Space to hear God.
Space to think.
Space to notice your children.
Space to create meaningful work.
Space to actually enjoy the life you're building.
Because what's the point of building a beautiful life if you're too exhausted to live it?
People often ask me how to build a business while working full time, raising a family, and wearing a dozen different hats.
There are countless strategies. But I've found I come back to the same three practices every day.
Go enjoy your family.
Read a book.
Go camping.
Fold the laundry while listening to a podcast.
LIVE YOUR ACTUAL LIFE.
Tomorrow, you'll do it again.
Faith. Action. Rest.
F.A.R.
Funny enough, I think that's exactly how we go far. Growth was never meant to happen all at once. Just like strength isn't built in one workout, purpose isn't built in one big leap.
It's built in ordinary Tuesdays.
School pickups.
Coffee before work.
Fifteen focused minutes.
Conversations.
Tiny moments of courage.
Over and over again. So maybe we can stop chasing "her."
Maybe we can stop waiting until we've become someone worthy of beginning.
Maybe the woman you're looking for has been here all along.
She simply needed today's choices to match today's values.
And tomorrow?
She'll wake up and do it again.
One peaceful, purposeful day at a time.
