If your life a destination or a daily identity?!

How does a woman with debt, jobs, a young child, and other life "things" still manage to

  • be published in two books (anthologies)

  • host an amazing podcast growing by the day

  • partner with two sisters in Christ to run a very intentional community

  • be chosen to coach on a women's luxury safari trip

  • and face down her dark sides with love and grace

  • among an endless list of other "things" that people may think are conditional based on "arriving" somewhere with life

INSTEAD OF JUST CHOOSING TO BE A WOMAN WHO IS

If I was still waiting for perfect circumstances, more time, my child to be older, I would be denying a part of me that needs to live now. Does this resonate with you?

Pause here with me for moment then. Hands on heart and breathe it in. What are you denying in yourself because..... of certain circumstances? Those things are real and they can consume your energy and attention, but is it at all possible for a small piece of who you are to have some space too? Now, as is?

What if it was just starting to write a blog post at 935 pm and then coming back to it two days later (ahem me right now), or reading before bed, or sipping your morning beverage just a moment longer.

Just giving yourself room to breathe, a little deeper, a little bigger, a little longer.

That's all it can take, but what it can GIVE you back is..... more of you. Because that's how I believe we are meant to spend each day. It's not about what you get done, but WHO you choose to be in each moment.

Not perfect or performing, but anchored in value, identity, peace and love. And when we spend time, meaningful, reflective non rushed time, in this rumination, we start to see more of ourselves.

Example - at work I am planning a 75th anniversary for our local government, a birthday party!!! So fun. And they tasked me with the Family Zone. Not because its related to my tasks at work but because it's related to my identity. My coworkers know I have a big heart for community, fun and experience.

Another example - also at work - realizing the depth of my knowledge and expertise to the point of wondering how the heck did I become that HER - especially because I don't necessarily LOVE my job - but I absolutely appreciate why I am in that role (neighbour mediation basically) and I LOVE where I work.

I am seeing myself more deeply and am blown away by who I am, who I am being and who I have become.

My coaching practice is the same. It FILLLLLS me up, bursting. Yes I get jealous of my friends whose kids are older, who have more time, money, support, whatever. BUT deeper than that I am damn proud of myself for going for it anyway and not waiting for "when this" and "when that" BECAUSE I WOULD BE DENYING A HUGE PART OF MYSELF IF I DID.

This is how I build my identity daily. This is where my reality starts to follow me, instead of me chasing after a reality that I can never quite grasp. God has already pre-arranged it all, and now I get to fall in line. And I know that I am because it's so easy, it's so obvious, its so juicy and energizing.

And the price of not pursuing it is too great, to deny me to myself, would crush my soul. Now that I am awake I cannot go back (Matrix - blue pill or red pill!)

AND NONE OF IT HAPPENED FROM SOME EXTERNAL CIRCUMSTANCE MATERIALIZING.

I pursued it all, in the late nights, early mornings and BIG ROOMS. Through God's guidance, I am fulfilling His plans for me in consistent and small steps everyday.

And that is the work of the everyday woman. Not grandiose magazine cover stuff. But how you respond to people, how you treat and view yourself and the choices you make even when you don't want to.

How you hold yourself accountable, open and aware..... one basic day at a time.

SISTER - I am not the woman who “made it” (yet). I am the Everyday Woman who woke up and chose herself while still in the middle of real life!!!!
